Hamelin, Marcelle

Born in Granby, Marcelle lives and works in the Laurentians. She studied Art at the Lionel-Groulx Cégep and UQAM. She explored several mediums and techniques before devoting herself to oil and acrylic. Her research is very personal and probes the modernist legacy to discover her pictorial poetry. The black arbitrary lines that pass through her paintings make contrasts with the colors overlapping them. Her life, its complexity and its rebellion imposes itself in her strength and her dynamics, on such topics as the authenticity and its roots. She has chosen to live in an abstract visual world. Her paintings often remind us of a coexistence between joy and violence. She walks through this complexity and chaos that evokes her own resilience. Her pictorial writing doesn’t leave us indifferent, it surprises by its duality and its opposites. In an exhibition, she is well aware that she must be seen by a wider audience. This is the purpose of her approach. She now hopes to meet you soon. The invitation is launched...
